History of the School

Devisthan Secondary School is located in Baglung District, formerly under Devisthan Village Development Committee and currently in Ward No. 1 of Nisikhola Rural Municipality. The school was established on Baisakh 25, 2016 BS through the active initiative of Jit Bahadur Malla of Ward No. 1, Dhan Bahadur Malla of Ward No. 9, and Nandaram Pun of Purnagaun, Ward No. 4, all of the then Devisthan VDC. It was founded on a guthi land contribution of Hiralal Kunwar, the youngest son of Bhairavnath of the then Rajkut VDC and priest of the Devisthan Kalika Bhagawati Temple, and was established on the south-western side of that temple as Devisthan Primary School. Started with the goal of spreading the light of education in rural areas, this school has today completed a glorious history of 65 years. Beginning with the operation of primary level classes, the school gradually expanded over time, introducing the lower secondary level in 2034 BS, the secondary level in 2053 BS, and the higher secondary level covering Classes 11 and 12 from 2068 BS onwards. After the Eighth Amendment to the Education Act transformed Classes 9 to 12 into the secondary level, the school has since been officially recognized as a secondary school.
